Martin studied physics at the Technical University of Munich, where he focused on structural and electronic transport properties of semiconductor nanostructures. During his PhD at the FOM Institute AMOLF in Amsterdam, Martin studied the optical properties of sub-wavelength metallic nanostructures as optical antennas for spontaneous emission control. Currently, Martin’s interest is at the interface of nano-optics and nano-electronics, where he studies the electrical transport properties of mesoscopic systems that strongly interact with light at the sub-wavelength scale. He teaches Nanooptics and Electromagnetic Precision Measurements and Optomechanics , alternating each fall and the QuanTech workshop in the spring. In addition, he's involved in the quantum engineering master programm as a tutor as well as a admission committee member.
